ox brain is safe?
Is it safe to eat raw beef brain?
Apart from that its not safe regarding mad cow disease, i dont know.
There is not as much protein in it (only 10%, and the protein quality is just 30%), the overall mineral level is just a bit higher (than beef), but its an excellent source of good cholesterol (almost twice as much as egg yolks). Except that brain contains vitamin C (which is already abundantly supplied by fruits), and for folic acid (3 times higher), the overall vitamine level is lower (than beef).

Raw cow brain?
After a few years in the philippines i finally found a reliable beef dealer where I can show up at 5am and get grass fed beef that was just killed an hour before. Is it safe to eat the brain?
other organs?

Re: ox brain is safe?
well i just ate raw cow brain, couldn't take down as much as i expected
could only eat about 7 bites until i felt satiated, roughly 1/5th of it.
the taste was tolerable but i can see why it is the most inexpensive part of the cow (only $1.50 for an entire brain).
tastes like pure fat and cholesterol with an after-taste of liver.
pleasant feeling after-effect though from the fat overload.
still seems less disgusting than eating raw chicken.
i'll prolly only eat brain like once a year

Re: ox brain is safe?
Please try ox heart.
Re: ox brain is safe?
yup heart is next on the list. i did find a recipe for raw brain that seems appealing tho
http://www.rawpaleodietforum.com/displa ... e-kinilaw/
Freshly squeeze some 6 to 7 calamansi/limes.
Chop up 1 big onion, red or white.
Mix with beef brain.
What the concoction does is to kill the blood flavor of the freshly slaughtered brain.
So you taste all brain. Which is quite good. I still have 1/3 of the beef brain left in the refrigerator. I may finish it off tomorrow.

Re: ox brain is safe?
You can safely store cow heart (in a small container) in the fridge and eat it the next day;
it doesnt go bad that fast.
Chicken hearts taste even better...
