problems finding ripe oranges

What sort of oranges do you use at the moment ?

I've some problems finding ripe oranges. I've bought two cases of Brazil Valencia's at the wholesaler Makro here in Groningen, but those are very hard. I've tried some South-African Valencia's from the AH, but they are very bad either.

The only good once I can get are Navelates from South Africa at the Plus, but they are not meant to make juice from it

Which oranges do you guys buy at the moment and where do you buy them ?

The oranges produced in USA are very good for me, but I don't know if you can get those.
"Malki" mandarins from Peru are great.
I too have tried South African and they are bad right now.

Yes, they are very hard, but not that bad.
The longer you store them, the better they will taste.
So, patience.

I don't buy any at the moment. All South African in stores indeed, and I don't like them. So I now buy ripe minneolas. They taste better to me (though they are a grapefruit cross...)
And more alternatives, like nectarines. Those are soooooo good!!!

Yeah, I know, the once I've bought a week ago, or now tasting better already.
However, I would like to have delicious orange juice instead of not that bad orange juice.

But I'm afraid this is difficult at the moment.

I found oranges from maroc at the fish market in Groningen!
One crate for 15 euro!
They are really delicious, the most dark orange oranges I've seen in my life.

Some are really bad tough.

They are not blue or dark in the inside, but I recognize them if they are too deep orange. I just smell it a little bit. Very strange taste, but not good.

Its probably a left over from an older shipment of oranges. (hence the ripeness)
And it may be that they didnt cost much because they are a bit ugly (old) on the outside.
