Ginger
Wai says here that ginger (as well as other spices) can contain small amounts of safrole and it is on this basis that they should be excluded from diet. I love ginger and this article suggests that safrole can be almost eliminated through sun-drying. I live in a hot climate so how adverse do you think the effects of ginger that has been sun-dried for awhile would be?
Re: Ginger
Personally I think it's fine to eat a bit of ginger if you like it that much. Only if you're on the Acne Sample Diet, or acne-prone, you should really avoid it (and other spices).
Re: Ginger
That's good to hear. I like ginger and also eat a bit of 100% chocolate (dried cacao paste) for the mortality bonus. Obviously can't be reasonably extrapolated, but the oldest person ever verified reportedly ate 1kg of chocolate per week.Oscar wrote:Personally I think it's fine to eat a bit of ginger
Re: Ginger
Is it at least raw chocolate?
Re: Ginger
Yep, just ground beans and water. It has little taste on its own but is amazing shaved onto grapefruit or other citrus.Oscar wrote:Is it at least raw chocolate?
Re: Ginger
For people susceptible to acne: ginger can cause acne.
Re: Ginger
is this just something that's been observed or do you know the biochemics of it? just curiousRRM wrote:ginger can cause acne.

Just observations.
