Oscar:

You don't happen to remember how you (the Dutch national team) kicked us (the Swedish national team) out of the European Championships two years ago, in a very painful penalty shootout? You know - messing with Swedes like that causes very bad karma, so you should not be too surprised about how you got kicked out this time. WE are the ones who ought to feel sorry for ourselves :D

I will never forget how we finished third in the World Cup of 1994 in USA. Oh, those were the days...

LOL! I think that penalty shootout was actually the moment the Dutch national team got rid of their Penalty Phobia...

What's your prediction for the semi-final matches?

I think the French team is looking strong; obviously they have two of the very best players in the world, Henry and Zidanne. In addition to this, they have a really strong defensive line.

Obviously all four remaining teams are really strong, but I would say the Germans, favored by hosting the tournament plus their tradition of always doing well in the big tournaments, are the main threat to the French team.

What do you think Oscar?

Even though I'm far from being an expert in football/soccer, I'd have to agree with you. It will be close though, so the semis will be interesting to watch.

I noticed that the Netherlands team jersey's were orange!
I thought of Oscar, Corinne and RRM and Wai.
I laughed and then I wanted them to win the whole the tournament just because of that!

You should've seen Amsterdam, even better on Queen's Day...the whole city looks orange then! :)

Oscar:

I find it quite amusing that Amsterdam, the one city in the world (probably) most associated with drugs, looks orange on Queen's Day. It sounds like everybody is on one giant LSD trip that specific day to celebrate the queen. :D (I have never tried LSD, but to me it sounds like the kind of drug that would make you see everything in orange.)

I know that the orange has nothing to do with drugs though. Wasn't there a royal family called Orangen or something like that?

On a side note - I often hear that Dutch and Swedish are supposed to be very similar when spoken, and this actually seems to be true judging from the few Dutch conversations that I have listened to. I also heard an interview with van Nistelroy during the World Cup, and I actually got a pretty good understanding of what he was talking about without looking at the subtitles.

The similarities between Swedish and Dutch might come in handy whenever I feel like buying some drugs...

The Royal family is called "Of Orange". I think that the Frysian language is actually pretty close to Danish, if I'm not mistaken.

Yes, a mixture of danish, dutch, german (lots of words are pronounced and written very similar; wunder=wunder, himmel=hjimmel, frau=frau, feind=feind) and english. (green=green, under=under, us=us, ear=ear, said=sain, wet=wet, dead=dea, you=jo, him=him, boat=boat, bread=brea, through=trog, where=were, uncle=onkel)
The grammar is totally opposite to the Dutch grammar, and since Frisian is my mother language, I initially spoke Dutch using most of the Frisian grammar, totally wacking up my dutch.

Interesting! :)
Is it from Anglo-Saxon origin?

I guess it does: from Wikipedia:
Anglo-Saxon, also called Old English, was the language spoken under Alfred the Great and continued to be the common language of England (non-Danelaw) until after the Norman Conquest of 1066 when, under the influence of the Anglo-Norman language spoken by the Norman ruling class, it changed into Middle English roughly between 1150-1500.

Anglo-Saxon is far closer to early Germanic than Middle English, i.e., it is less latinized, and retains many morphological features (nominal and verbal inflection) that were lost during the 12th to 14th centuries. The language today which is closest to Old English is Frisian, which is spoken by a few hundred thousand people in the northern part of the Netherlands and Germany.

Primal diet - part 2.

Post by csamo001 »

Here I am again. Took me a while, but I graduated in the meantime!! About the primal diet: the way I feel AND the way I look is much better than before. Also about the clearness of mind Vonderplanitz is talking about - I finally have the feeling my mind is starting to work correct again. However, a couple of days ago for 2 days in a row I tried some melted cheese and some raw butter from the supermarket - of course both from pasteurized milk. My face was covered in acne.

Animal fat is very important for the way you feel and look, but it has to be RAW. So I take care now to choose the meat cuts with more fat. Actually, a lot of fat. And the results are much better then on the beginning when I chose mostly lean meat cuts. I do not gain fat-weight however, mainly I am getting my old physique again. One additional thing Vonderplanitz mentions is less teeth problems. This is also true. My gums, after 2 months of wai diet were in terrible state, beginning to bleed everywhere. I also developed sensitive teeth to both heat and cold.

I don't juice veggetables and I think I never will. What I do notice though, if I increase my fruit to veggetable ratio much in favour of the fruit the problems with my teeth return.

I lost a lot of weight and especially muscle mass under the wai diet. With this diet rich in raw meat and raw dairy products (I also make my own curd by the way, which is really cool and fascinating for me:)) I am starting to look like my old self again - without the acne. I guess I am too much into 'looking like a man', because I was always a sports fanatic. I just couldn't bare to weigh 85 kg at a height of 1,92 m. Just weighed myself: 87,5 kg. Hope to be above 90 kg again soon.

Now I realize that for some of you the wai diet works great. So once again I emphasize that this is just an alternative approach which worked for me much better than the wai diet itself.

Cheers!

Thats because the more fat, the less protein you will consume (otherwise you would be consuming extra calories).
And the acne prone skin does not like too much protein, even when its raw.
I do not gain fat-weight however
Ah, there you go.

Consuming little protein, its indeed a challenge to keep your muscle mass on the required level.
With this diet rich in raw meat ... I am starting to look like my old self again
More protein means indeed that its easier to keep up your muscle mass.
