Re: Wikipedia.. Reshaping WaiSays.com
:p Thanks!
Re: Wikipedia.. Reshaping WaiSays.com
No problemo!
It seems you want to make a rather simple site, so why not make it a bit like this:
The Wai Site? Very simple. Of course very crude too, because I did things rather quickly just to illustrate what I mean.
Don't click on WaiBook, WaiTalk, or the flags, they don't go anywhere...

Yes!!It seems you want to make a rather simple site
Thank you Oscar, but what I'm aiming at, is a floating navigation bar., so why not make it a bit like this:
The Wai Site
Re: Wikipedia.. Reshaping WaiSays.com
A bar at the bottom or top of the page, or a floating menu on the left?
I was doing it more because of the layout actually.

Re: Wikipedia.. Reshaping WaiSays.com
Hi RRM,
I've looked at both the current and "The Wai Site" layouts.
As far as the layout goes, I prefer Oscar's to be honest. I don't quite picture what you mean about a floating navigation bar, but then again, I'm not so good at the technical side. Isn't it the same thing as having the left menu visible/accessible while reading any part of the site? This, seems like a good idea.

Is this what you mean?

Re: Wikipedia.. Reshaping WaiSays.com
Oscar,
I like yours too! However, I don't like the blue color of the font and blue bar. It doesn't gel well with the black.
Also, I think when RRM says floating menu, he means that the sidebar will scroll when the viewer scrolls down as well, so that it is also there on the left side. It's like a menu with frames, but without using the standard frames format. I know CSS gives you the capability to have a layer scroll with the content.
What program did you use?
Otherwise, its good.

Re: Wikipedia.. Reshaping WaiSays.com
Thanks Nick. Never mind the colors, I just made them up in relation to the colors RRM used on his page. Particulars and details still have to be decided, but it's the general layout which I wanted to suggest. Did you try my Test Menu Page (my previous post)? I used Dreamweaver.
Re: Wikipedia.. Reshaping WaiSays.com
Sweet!!! I tried it first in Safari, but it didn't work, then I tried it in Explorer.
That is perfec Oscar! How did you do that exactly..CSS?
That is perfect, have it on every page.
What do you think RRM?

Re: Wikipedia.. Reshaping WaiSays.com
It's done using Javascript, but I just used the code from someone else.
Re: Wikipedia.. Reshaping WaiSays.com
Thats very good Oscar!
But, when I scroll down the page, the floating menu bar floats kind of 'jibberish' / 'in Parkinson's mode', do you experience the same? Or is it due to some settings in my browser?

Re: Wikipedia.. Reshaping WaiSays.com
Maybe the timeout setting was too high for your internet speed...I minimized it. Is it better now?
Re: Wikipedia.. Reshaping WaiSays.com
Now its more like a tennisball right before the service... (tap tap tap... plok!)
(only if I use the mouse to scroll down the page)

Re: Wikipedia.. Reshaping WaiSays.com
PS, this site has an impressive multi-layer navigation bar, using javascript, right?
see: "voeding" > "vitamines & mineralen" >
BTW; the guy in the pic is also multi-layered; ouch!

Re: Wikipedia.. Reshaping WaiSays.com
Well, there are several ways of doing a menu...a multilayered one could be a bit like this: MultiLayer Menu Test
